About PKAVS Young Carers Hub

Our Carers Hub supports over 1,000 unpaid carers in Perth & Kinross. We help people be individuals first, carers second.

The Carers Hub is split into 3 services;

All our services aim to improve the lives of carers through practical and emotional support, advocacy, training and information about services, rights and benefits.

A carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a partner, child, family member or friend who could not manage without their help. This could be due to age, disability, physical or mental illness or addiction. Anyone can be a carer – we work with carers aged from 5 to 95.

YC about us banner 1

The Young Carers Hub looks to provide opportunities for young carers to be children first and carers second. The Project will support young carers with their social, emotional and educational needs through:

  • Residentials and day trips - during the school holidays young carers get the chance to take time out from their caring role, meet other young carers and have fun
  • Respite groups - group nights run during term time and include, arts and crafts, movie and games, plus plenty more
  • School support - we can help work with Schools to identify and support young carers in an educational setting
  • One to one support - allows young carers to speak to staff about any issues worrying them i.e. school, their caring role, family/friend issues
  • Family support - Young Carers staff work with families to identify other services that may be able to support them
  • Carers Assessments
