From personal care to advocacy to emotional support, unpaid caregivers form the invisible backbone of health and social systems all over the world, Williams says -- and without them, these systems would crumble. "How can we make sure that their value to patients and society is recognized?" he asks.
Coalition of Carers in Scotland is undertaking a survey to find out whether carers living in Scotland are aware of their rights. Since The Carers (Scotland) Act came into force last 1st April 2018, the legislation aimed to extend the rights of unpaid carers living in Scotland to make sure that they are able to have a life alongside their caring role.
